Hopefully you don’t care, but in case you do I didn’t downvote you. I was not offended, but I am grateful I had an opportunity to share some of the unique insights I’ve experienced.
I never said it was a good thing. I was just commenting on the aggressive nature of Brazil LEO. Microsoft in particular bends over backwards for any gov’t or LEO. I can only assume the Feds got substantial leverage over them, perhaps by manipulating the antitrust cases. Same tactics they use on the smaller guys works on the big corps too I guess. Top customer of MS legal compliance is by far the US Fed with 5000-7000 blanket surveillance of Americans presumably part of PRISM. Second highest is definitely Brazil, and they are very demanding and impatient.
Back in 2016, MS was advertising Customer Lockbox as an answer to gov’t intrusion into customer privacy. It sounded perfect. Customer gets encryption keys so MS cannot comply with lawful interception requests. I think Apple does this, and it works well for them and their customers. However today I cannot tell if MS lied, dismantled this aspect of this feature, or buried it such that no one uses this ability.
While we’re talking about MS playing snitch, watch out for Windows 11 and the TPM hardware requirement. Sure this might be a useful tool to fight ransomware scammers, but it definitely can also be used to fingerprint a PC and make everything potentially traceable. Look up machine identification code aka yellow dots for a nifty parallel in the printer world (pun intended).
I generally agree, but I feel like Windows 8.1 was a vast improvement on 8. It was really more like Windows 9 with a Windows 8 theme.
Brazil does not fuck around. They famously jailed several Microsoft execs when they didn’t hand over some emails a few years ago.

Actually if you want a serious answer, I usually try to apply force as close to the hinge as possible when opening and closing the lid. This way the full length of the screen isn’t acting as a lever multiplying the force on the relatively short span of the hinge mounting bracket.
I definitely agree this is too common a problem not to be by design.

It was the first one, Alien, for me. I was maybe four. Nightmares didn’t stop until my late twenties, but it’s my favorite movie now. No movies scared me after that!

I used to hit the TX state police auctions pretty often. I really liked the 9C1 Caprice basically the car the 1994-1996 Impala was based on. A little bit Cadillac, a little bit Camaro. Iron block and heads version of the LT1 improved reliability/durability. Could take speed bumps at 70 mph without flinching and was a phenomenal highway car especially for TX. Highway Patrol (DPS) cars are issued to specific troopers and not whored out to the whole department on a 24 hour rotation, so they are generally much better looked after.
Anyway I happened to hit one auction that was unique. Before, they put a really crappy paint job on to cover up the black and white paint scheme. After, they cheaped out and just spray painted white squigglies all over the car. I picked up a nice 1995 still black and white 9C1 for $2600.
Rocketing between Houston and Austin at over 100 mph, cars would move over to let me pass. Cops on the other side heading the other way would wave instead of pulling me over. On the rare occasion I did get pulled over, the registration showed previous owner as DPS since I bought directly from them myself. So I always got off with a warning.
Man I miss that car. They quit making them so they could make more SUVs…
Also the DPS Mustangs were stick shift so of course I grabbed one of those too!
Don’t make me completely turn this car around!
Make like a tree and split
Use gasoline instead of water. Then you can eliminate the fuel tank. Side bonus would be protection from microbes for the crew. The government should also expect a reduction in pension and social security costs.

Your post title grabbed my attention because I recently started watching Survivor for the first time (social event not really my pick). Anyway it’s fascinating to watch their behavior. These people are constantly talking about “reading” people. They’re always trying to inject meaning and intent where there is none. They are not as smart as they think they are, and they struggle with communication just as much as we do.
One thing I’ve noticed is NTs are constantly lying to each other then trying to “read between the lines.” Not so much malicious intent as keeping your cards close to your chest sort of thing. When someone comes up and just says what they mean, their minds explode. Many of them read into what you’re saying the worst possible interpretation. I’m still trying to figure this out.
I’ve seen a similar thing in court, where you think you’re trying to document facts and distill away all the emotion and speculation. WRONG! It seems to work like Survivor where 1 + 1 = 3.
