A better question is… Is Lemmy better than reddit in some way so it’s worth for users to switch to it?
I like that it’s decentralized, but the largest instances seem to have moderation policies that are very similar to reddit.

It will be used for ads…as usual…
If you are going to be upset about other people like this, you will be in a state of constant anger.
It’s not your responsibility to control what people do or think. My advice is to let those people be who they are, while you focus on being the best you can be.
Keep the people you vibe with in your life, and let the others go. Meet your grandfather and just observe him. This is life showing you someone who is hateful, from the sound of it. It’s just an example of who not to be, that’s all it is. Learn from that and remain calm.
You can do it. :)
If you are in the right state of mind, you can even smile at horrible things he says, because it’s just about him, not anyone else. You will start to view him as someone funny, like a child that messes up because they don’t know better.
Don’t fight people you don’t agree with. Just say what you think, and leave. No need to argue at all.
Can you run this in a distributed manner, like with kubernetes and lots of smaller machines?
It’s an ok show but don’t expect more the usual strong silent hero VS loud bad guys.
Lols. :)
Nvidia programmers strike again…
The stock is doing good so there must be plenty of people thinking Netflix is essential. And I guess it is if you have no tech skills at all.
All the cloud services are built on top of free software, and big tech just built user interfaces on top of them.
That wasn’t the intended purpose of course, to support billionaries becoming multi billionaries. So maybe a percentage of the profits should go back to the makers.
I find it ridiculous that humans can’t decide to end their life if they want to. It’s crazy that the state has to allow it.
I agree, it was the first movie in a long time that had some actual human energy and spirit.
How did this movie get made in Hollywood without getting corrupted?
It’s about normalizing survellience, and the article also says this as an opinion further down in the text.
Everyone can see that we are going towards the society in black mirror, with social scores, and people being punished for not complying with rules of any kind. I’m glad I’m kind of old because the future will suck.
It’s just based on the trans people I have met so it’s highly subjective. For example, I saw two trans people on vacation in Italy wearing dresses, tons of makeup, tight clothes, open chests, and walking in a line like fashion models, looking straight ahead as into a camera.
That’s what I mean when I say “showcase their sexuality”. They are proud trans people who wants everyone to notice them.
I’m sorry to hear you are getting hate. Nobody deserves to be hated for how they look. But at the same time, we live in a extreamly superficial world. Quite an awful world if you ask me.
That’s true. I have no idea about the size of the group.
Maybe in the heads of trans people but not really. I understand it’s easy to think everyone hates you, but if you believe that, you are no longer open to seeing the alternative and you see what you expect everywhere.
You can exist just fine but for some reason, it doesn’t seem enough to exist. Quite often trans people feel they have to showcase their sexuality, instead of just chilling and being cool with it like everyone else.
This sounds very much like typical psy ops information to be honest. Trying to paint a picture of someone as a degenerate.
I bet he was looking at some porn the same day, as some people do. Nothing special.
I have a synology NAS with two disks in raid config, where I store backups from the other machines over the home network. So one disk can fail without issues. And I backup the Nas to a hetzner storage box as well. They are pretty cheap. :)
I don’t think the Linux culture is very similar to the windows culture. At least for me personally, I wouldn’t use crowdstrike and let them install whatever they want into my environment.
Maybe it’s just me.
Windows 7 was my last windows. Since then it’s been Linux on all machines. It was easy to see where Microsoft were going. And they will continue to go down this route.
When you run windows, it’s not your computer.
I would be pretty annoyed to let lemmy.world decide what I should read on the Lemmyverse :)
Depends what you mean with a job in tech. If you want to work as technical problem solver or programmer, then it’s very useful, almost required.
