I’ve been on reddit spreading the good word of Lemmy and Kbin, and occasionally the text of one of my comments will be replaced with [Removed by Reddit]

Any idea what could be provoking this? It seems to happen way more often on the big subreddits. It seems automated to me, but sometimes deleting my comment and reposting a copy seems to bypass whatever is doing the deleting? But only sometimes. Idk.

I am done with Reddit, will try and visit this place instead. If it fails, I will just migrate to Discord

To be honest I’m already growing weary of Discord, they’re adding lots of bloat and unpopular features recently. Infinite growth mentality kills apps like Discord.

You can always just mute the soundboard. I for one love the soundboard… makes for some great jokes and memes between close friends.

Yeah, if you open the soundboard there is an option to change its volume. I’m *fairly *certain it’s a global change, but it could be a per-server thing.

Same shit is going to happen to Discord one day. A centralised closed source company… You should consider a decentralised platform instead, like Matrix.

Getting a sitewide link permaban is the highest honor that Reddit can give to a website.

This is censorship done by Reddit’s AEO (Anti “Evil” Operations), which are basically the admins moderation monkeys. I can’t state enough how much I hate them. They banned me for the dumbest shit, like saying that a fascist Italy should get kicked out of the EU & NATO (in a respectively relevant submission). This opinion was apparently worth a perma ban for “spreading hate” & denied appeal, in which I explained that both institutions require democratic foundations from their member states. They’re a big reason why I think Reddit went to shit over the past half a decade or so (I had hundrdes of thousands of karma before that with no issues for many years), because they’re either highly incompetent or have an agenda, or both. Meanwhile, they report you back that literal hate speech & calls for violence are “not a violation of their terms of service”.

The best thing about this censorship is that they even censor the comment from the writer itself. Regular removals are just [Removed] for others, while you as the original writer can still see your comment like nothing happened. Now you cannot even see your own comment, you can’t see what type of offending shit you’ve said, which also means you cannot possibly form a plausible defense for it - especially when the ban hammer comes like 3 weeks later and you don’t even remember what you’ve said there.

Wow; I didn’t realise how low they’ve been sinking.

Regular removals are just [Removed] for others, while you as the original writer can still see your comment like nothing happened.

What would really help is being able to create a Chrome tab which didn’t access cookies, so that I could check out my Reddit comments as an unlogged-in user. Not sure if that’s a thing, tho, or what it might be called.

EDIT: Whoops; I’m an idiot. “Incognito window” does the trick.

I was banned for saying “you guys would be supporting the KKK and howling in the streets at the pretty lit cross if you were born in the late 1800s” in a thread about… get this… ALL Russians being evil and needing to be murdered.

So yeah, fucking insanity man. That was one of my 4 or 5 reddit permabans that were successfully appealed by the admins.

When hate is in vogue, the lemmings will leap (sorry Lemmy) at the chance to do it and you better not make them feel bad about their misplaced anger and hate or you’ll be sorry.

Yeah I tried to post lemmy links several times and instantly the post was removed each time. It’s definitely some kind of automated bot removing lemmy links.

If they have some kind of bot detecting links to Lemmy and removing them , maybe an image might work to spread the word?

It’s reddit censoring messages about their competitors. Whether its automated, manual or a combination of those, I’m not sure.

Which is insane considering the Lemmy userbase is a fraction of the number of reddit 3rd party app users. Really shows how tight their grip is on those last few straws.

I could have sworn I saw this on that r/modcoord thread someone shared. Several mods listed their new lemmy or kbin magazine and when I looked against later the comment was removed. I wish I had taken a screenshot.

we must be creative, like post it in a picture/video with watermark of lemmy/kbin address that concisely explain lemmy/kbin. overtime people will realize why every reddit post has this address. its not instant, just gradual migration.

Not sure about removing comments, but I had manually unsubscribed from each subreddit I had a sub to; I keep checking every few days and Reddit keeps adding back subscriptions 2-4 subs, so I manually remove those again, and sure enough - a few days later a couple others reappear.

Edit: just went back and checked, sure enough - across two old accounts, a few subscriptions re-added and a couple pages of comments were restored. Wiped it out again, lets see how long before they are reversed yet again.

I had manually edited about 6 months of posts and comments to just point to join-lemmy.org and lemmy.world

I checked earlier today and they were all restored to before the edit.

      I then deleted the account

Maybe we should all delete 10 or so comments every day. The idea is to overwhelm them with hordes of small deletions.

Reducing the count of inactive users, keeping subscriber counts at previous numbers, and back tracking the wave of accounts wiping out all their content
