Basically the title. Why are so many gaming content creators bashing other modern games and praising this particular title? Is it because it is a proper offline RPG? Or is it because there’s no “greedy” subscription or play-to-win?

I did think about that before posting and thing is, the Dovahkiin to me, is not the guy who completes the main quest.
The Dovahkiin is the personification of “I’ll do literally anything, if it’s a quest”. Players will go from whacking people in a fighters guild quest, to whacking people in a mages guild quest. From helping out in the murder guild, over to saving the world.
Skyrim doesn’t require you to choose a role beyond that. You can leave out content, e.g. not whack people in mages guild quests, but the game really doesn’t encourage that play style. You’re just playing unoptimally at that point.
I guess, maybe it is rather the case that the Dovahkiin is not a fleshed-out role and the role-playing in Skyrim is just not very prominent.
Got you. Yes, in that respect it’s not good roleplaying. But then I can’t think of many RPGs where you are not the chosen one that has to solve every problem (hello, Cmd. Shepard!)
