Basically the title. Why are so many gaming content creators bashing other modern games and praising this particular title? Is it because it is a proper offline RPG? Or is it because there’s no “greedy” subscription or play-to-win?

And it works upon release. It isn’t a buggy mess with shitty excuses as to why it can’t function without a 30-60GB update day 1

It actually has ton and ton of bugs, but they are patching them very fast and with patches that are < 400MB in size

Don’t have any cash to afford, or even a proper system to play BG3, but I was always fascinated by the original Baldur’s Gate poster as a GenZ kid cuz DnD wasn’t a culture in our country, and I always wanted to try this once. Maybe I’ll start with a low-fantasy like FFVI first when I have the time and finish the entire game, then start with BG1 (if it even exists).

Really depends on what you don’t like about DnD.

Not a fan of the prep work? Everything you need to know is written in game, no research necessary.

Not a fan of the mechanics? They’re still here, but feels pretty streamlined/approachable. The most DnD thing here I’d say is…rolling? I don’t see a lot of games where you roll dice for a chance at success. If you don’t like that mechanic there’s some stuff in game to make it easier to succeed at the things you care about and if that’s not enough you can always quicksave/quickload and retry.

Not a fan of the tabletop nature of DnD? Well this is a video game that feels like…a video game.

Not a fan of the role-playing aspect? I’m not sure you’d like it then. It’s definitely a story driven game not a hack n slash.

Not a fan of the setting/races/lore? Yeah don’t play.

So you could potentially still like the game, but it really depends.
