Basically the title. Why are so many gaming content creators bashing other modern games and praising this particular title? Is it because it is a proper offline RPG? Or is it because there’s no “greedy” subscription or play-to-win?

Don’t have any cash to afford, or even a proper system to play BG3, but I was always fascinated by the original Baldur’s Gate poster as a GenZ kid cuz DnD wasn’t a culture in our country, and I always wanted to try this once. Maybe I’ll start with a low-fantasy like FFVI first when I have the time and finish the entire game, then start with BG1 (if it even exists).
BG Enhanced Edition is on steam! It actually seemed pretty cool, but the online play was so jank that my friends and I just went for Divinity instead. If you’re planning on playing it solo though you should be fine.
Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 are on sale now on GOG, at least in my region. They’re hella affordable:

Apparently the GOG versions also contain the original games, unlike the Steam versions. And they’re much cheaper, even without the discount. They also run on really low specs.
