The number of people globally who initially access news through a website or app has dropped by 10 points since 2018, and younger groups prefer to access news through social media, search or mobile aggregators, according to a report released on Tuesday.
In terms of trust, of course I trust traditional media sources more. They do actually vet stuff some and admit when they made a mistake. On the other hand, sure I use other sources too. And I access conventional sources via RSS not the way most people do. So it is the trust stupidity that gets me. Some people trust stuff that is just out right fake more then authentic sources.
Traditional media has its issues too. Less funding and more competition has driven a lot of stuff that makes them less reliable. Lack of true investigative reporting is a huge issue. The mix of what is real news, with advertising spots and commentary full of fake stuff that the commentators do not even believe themselves is another direction that is troubling.
