A well moderated instance can deny to communicate with a not well moderated instance.
I don’t know the moderation functionality of Lemmy or kbin and therefore don’t know, if the software itself allows it. But there always is a way, if you really want this.
So, being on a well moderated instance can protect you from spam from a not well moderated instance.
