World of Warcraft Classic. You start as a no one. Everybody around you seems to know what to do. Your items are shit. You look like a peasant. The silliest enemies force you to rest and are able to kill you.
It‘s challenging but so rewarding. It makes you feel grateful for every single lvlup, item and skill you can get.
Even after spending literal days of your life, there always will be people who are better than you. Everything is said and done. Still this game manages to pull me back in from time to time. It’s so much fun.
The IPCC report is what you‘re looking for! And since it‘s it‘s almost impossible to even reach the goal of 1,5 degrees, we should hit the breaks better sooner than later. It‘s not an „oopsie“ problem we would face otherwise. People are already dying.
Around 4 times a year I get a whole weekend for myself. Sometimes I don’t even tell any friends that I’m alone at home. Oh boy. As a father of two, these weekends are better than anything else.
(Sorry, English is not my first language)
If I understand you correctly you criticize my usage of the word existential, bc it implies that the climate catastrophe will kill all humans? If yes, then I have to correct myself. While this could be a possible outcome, it’s not based on actual research.
People are already dying because of the heat or starving because of droughts and water scarcity. Based on the IPCC report it will become even worse, especially of we don’t manage to avoid the tipping points of the climate crisis in the next few years.
Ts… remaster. What a cash grab. This game’s brand new…
looks up release date
fuck. That makes me…
calculates age
fuck.
Solo: Marvel Champions (but now I’m gettig into Arkham Horror LCG)
with friends/pub: The Crew - Mission Deep Sea
with friends: Dominion
with my children: 5Minute Dungeon
Friendly reminder that it’s not about denial anymore. It’s about how urgent is the existential threat of tipping points and how radical and fast should we act.
One side says, let’s stay reasonable, let’s not hurt the economy, don’t panic because of the these crazy Greta maniacs. Source: We managed a lot of crisis in the past, sometimes it’s not that hot, lobby money.
The other side says we have to hit the breaks immediately or a lot of people are going to die. Source: Science.
The game offers a short tutorial and an AI mode. There you can get familiar with the first heroes that are available to you and the maps. Find a character you like and mess around with his abilities and skill trees. You have all the time in the world.
It‘s considered a beginner friendly MOBA. You have your standard attack, 2-4 special abilities and an heroic attack at level 10 (20 is the max level).
As soon as you feel ready to play competitively, there are several game modes available for you.
Since it’s free just give it a try. Becoming good in this game is part of the journey!
Does the good ol notpron-riddle count? I don‘t know, if it‘s solvable on mobile devices.
Heroes of the Storm! Pick one out of over 80 heroes to fulfill your role in a team of 5 and try to destroy the other team‘s core.
Blizzard‘s take on the MOBA genre is something I come back to from time to time.
The character and map design is awesome and one match allows you to level up your character to counter enemy strategies and be become the kind of healer/tank/mage/dps/supporter your team needs.
It‘s awesome. And free.
could be a good start!
I wrote 3.5X-lite because it looks like you explore new planets and technologies, expand on them, exploit them and fight against other players…? Ofc we‘re not talking about Twilight Imperium here, that’s why I wrote „lite“ but I‘d love to see New Frontiers giving me a feel of that. I could be totally wrong, I never played it, only saw the pics on bgg.
I‘m admiring Hero Realms atm. The app version looks much better than Star Realms, but both are great games!
That‘s some great advice, thank you so much!
And yes, I own Res Arcana and love it! After that, when I bought Terraforming Mars Ares Expedition people compared it to RftG. This Lehmann guy (and his silly BGG pic) often times pops up, when I research interesting games. Today in a podcast people praised Jump Drive what convinced me to take a deeper look into Lehmann‘s games.
Thank your for your awesome writeup, BigilusDickilus. If you had to choose one, which would you pick? They all sound awesome!
Initially I prefered Jump Drive to play with my wife and kids. The RftG design looks a little bit outdated. But your description made me reconsider, they sound great.
On the other hand New Frontiers could be the 3.5X-lite space themed game I‘m looking for (I‘m considering Gaia Project, but it doesn‘t have fleets, Eclipse, but it is too heavy, Tiny Epic Galaxies is too light, Warp‘s Edge is too expensive and not available in German, … sigh).
First time Machi Koro 2! I just love these games with setups that differ every time you play and that let you choose your own strategy.
The ABCDEF-model works great for a lot of people.
