I’m the developer of a desktop-first Lemmy client called Alexandrite.
Oh yeah, I added a few hotkeys too, forgot to mention that! You can find them documented on the hotkey help page.
Nope, it does everything client-side as of about a month ago.
I didn’t see anything about it, but I wish they would change how typing a message works. When my keyboard is open it’s so big it covers the chat and I can’t see the message I’m typing so I just have to hope I’m typing what I think I am.
I think this UI looks neat, totally room out there for both of them! :) I think it actually looks a bit closer to Photon. I’m always down for more apps because we all benefit from new ideas.
Another random reply to an old comment! I’ve got a branch out for self hosting Alexandrite if you happened to be interested in trying it out at all, more info on this post.
I’m not sure, I get the comment count from one place, and the list of comments from another, so it’s the server saying there are two comments but then not giving me any. I’ve seen on the official ui that sometimes the comment count doesn’t match how many comments I see (like on the lemmy.world crosspost of that it says there are 3 but shows me two), so I just assumed it’s a bug on the Lemmy side but maybe I’m wrong.
I mostly browse on desktop, but wasn’t a big fan of the main site, so I made my own one called Alexandrite that I think is more convenient to use. I use Voyager on my phone and I’m excited for Sync to release.
If anyone’s curious here’s one of my announcement posts, and another that includes mod tools.
Eventually yes, but I haven’t done the work yet. It’s high on my todo list though.
Eventually I want to add a light theme, but it’ll probably be a while yet.
(I’m the dev of Alexandrite) Officially there isn’t yet a way to self-host it without modifying the code (unless you host it on one of a few specific cloud providers like the official Alexandrite site does), but now that people are self hosting anyway I think adding support for it is going to be higher up on my priority list!
No worries! There was actually a bug yesterday that your first comment got me to look into and fix, and I haven’t spent any more time on this besides replying to your comments so not much time was wasted. Just glad to know it works :)
I’ve never used Brave, does it have any functionality like the Dark Reader extension built in? I know on Firefox the Dark Reader extension overwrites theme colors. If that doesn’t fix it maybe I’ll have to download Brave and check it out.
Hmm. So every time after you change the colors you need to refresh?
I haven’t implemented Lemmy’s settings yet, but if you go to your home instance, then settings, then change “Type” to “All” and save, then Alexandrite should default to that.
Or find and replace all the periods with ones that are slightly larger font.
