Oh wow, hard to believe a huge bug like that would make it to production. What do you recommend instead? Stick with TP-Link?

From what I’ve seen it seems consumer routers, but it raises flags is all, and makes me reconsider options.
So I just added a TP-Link switch (TL-SG3428X) and access point (EAP670) to my network, using OPNSense for routing. I’m still within the return window for both items. I understand the article mentions routers, but should I consider returning these, and upping my budget to go for ubiquity? The AP would only be like $30 more for an equivalent, so that’s negligible, but a switch that meets my needs is about 1.6x more. And still only has 2 SFP+ ports, while I need 3 at minimum.
I’ll give that a shot, thanks!
Thanks for the detailed reply.
So the command gives me an error that nfs-client cannot be found.
The fstab just has basic default config. No timeout set.
I considered network issues, though it seems to be quite stable for other services. Not ruling it out just yet. I have a new switch coming in the next week, so will test if the issue persists when I put that in.
I will also give autofs a shot.
Thanks!
Haha don’t cut it up just yet! I’ll try some of the other options suggested here, as I’d like to learn what the issue is. The worst case I’ll try smb.
Thank you, will try this when I have time later this week.
They are mounted via the gui, but it just puts the mount into fstab. I checked the config there and it is just the standard default options for an nfs mount.
Edit: and no, I don’t lose it on reboot. Reboot re-mounts the share correctly.
Through the Cockpit gui, which just puts it into fstab. I checked the fstab config and it just has the basic default settings.
Doesn’t seem like it as far as I can tell.
Ya you’re right some of their views are 👎. I actually stopped listening to the podcast sometime over the pandemic when they had a super right wing guest on and they let loose and agreed with his views which was uncommon. Didn’t finish the episode, but came back to it a few years later and I recall hearing Aaron back track. Some of their newer episodes are still interesting and they seem to be more balanced, though I’ve been listening to the pre pandemic episodes.
For me Mysterious Universe takes the cake. A couple of Aussie guys talking about anything and everything paranormal, big foot, lucid dreaming, missing 411, stone tape theory, mediums, hauntings, abductions, time travel, ufos, men in black, remote viewing, alternative history theories, etc. They don’t really delve into conspiracy theories which I appreciate.
They’ve been at it for ages, and they are on season 32 of the regular show and 30 of the plus show (2 seasons per year). Most shows they discover a book or essay and do a deep dive into it, explaining and linking it to other research.
My main draw is how they don’t take anything too seriously, and are able to objectively present a theory about “black ops stealth [person of short stature]”, mixed with “the meaning behind your Thai diving instructor’s tramp stamp”, and follow it by well researched interviews with authors and researchers. Giving facts and letting listeners draw their own conclusions.
All that to say, I’ve listened back to season 11 so far, and have thousands of hours of content. Highly recommend.
I feel like it should be “Jean”, non? If it was a Fiat or an Alfa Romeo, Giovanni would be a great fit. Maybe you have your own context or reasoning though ☺️.
Cool idea!
I was going to mention a few games to check out but they were all already mentioned, so I will suggest the one that wasn’t brought up, Star Crusader. Space combat game with a great story, fun game play, high replay value, and great voice acting for a game from 1994. And the ending blew my mind, still remember the moment and my shock to this day. I have my original CD and the jacket in a memorabilia box haha, one of only a handful of things I kept from those days.
Good find! They also have multiple shirt, sweatshirts and a mug.

Yeah it exported for me into the folder and file format I specified. Tile was expectedly large and there was a thumbnail preview, but when I tried to open it, the two image viewers I tried gave the same error message. I’ll try it again at some point for sure though.
Very cool piece of software. I played around with it a few weeks back with some scanned slides and it gave good results. Some of the models were better for general objects and background while other models were better for people.
The only issue was (and I admittedly didn’t spend any time to try and resolve it), that I couldn’t open the output photos outside of the app. I could see the result in the app, but opening the file directly gave an error.
Holy, that’s so pretty! Would love to have some in my garden.
Thanks for the tip, much appreciated. I picked it up while it’s on sale, and will check it out in the coming weeks!
Fair enough. Is there anything one can do to mitigate? Like I know for the recent issue in the news, a mitigation strategy for consumers is to basically reboot their router often. I keep my router and all hardware up to date, and try to follow news here. Not sure if there is really anything else I could do.
