If you don’t see any insects on the leaves or the soil, I’d just give it some time. Water it every 2-4 weeks. If it’s a large pot of soil do it every 4 weeks with ~0,5 liters, in a smaller pot do it more often with a smaller quantity.
In general, it’s better to water rarely, so the top layer of soil is dry most of the time. That way, you’re making the life harder for small flys to lay eggs and nurish from the roots.
If it keeps losing leaves, don’t panic. Mine had a severe sunburn once and dropped all the leaves. After some weeks it started to recover and grew new leaves.
I would say, the worst thing you can do is overwater. Mine is in a pretty huge pot (80 liters) and I give it (round about) 1,7 liters of water every 6 weeks in summer and 2-3 months in winter. That way the plant has to grow deep roots to the very bottom to reach the bottom and the top layers are rather dry.
Maybe it got cold on the way home or reacts to the change of light / temperature between the store and your place. I would recommend to not water it too much and don’t use too much fertilizer. I have one that already survives for more than 10 years and it’s still pretty healthy despite that I don’t pamper it at all.
Somehow, I feel a sudden and uncontrollable urge to toss my credit card into that pool.
I don’t get it. It’s just an image that says “right here”. Can someone please explain me the joke? Or did I miss anything important?
Deal, maybe if we show 'em the meme, we can go on a double date.
Just learned that I’m gay. Any fellow dudes who want to hook up? Any tips on how to tell my GF?
The trick is to always get an even number of death sentences as every second execution will revert the effect of the previous.
Is there a credible source for the costs of hosting? Wikipedia is listing similar ad revenues as you did but no info on the costs. YouTube has 2.7 billion users that watch in average around 11 hours of videos a month. If 2 billion USD/y would be sufficient to host all that that’d be just 0,74 USD/user*year or 0,06 USD per month. That sounds really cheap considering that you have to pay for storage, traffic, backups and redundancies (at least I never heard of significant outages or data loss on YT).
Does anyone have a credible source on the number of employees YouTube has? If you search for that you fine vastly different number from just 2k to 189k employees.
TBH I’m not sure if a platform like YouTube will ever exist in a non-commercial way. Many creators that I follow reached a level of professionalism that comes with significant costs. You need expensive cameras, microphones, lights, high-end computers, drones, personnel costs for cutters and people that help with research. They have travel costs, sometimes rent for offices etc. All that just to produce the content.
On top, there are significant costs for hosting. I mean YouTube is hosted on multiple data centers rather than a bunch of servers or even home computers. Already Lemmy, which is mostly text and pictures, is a decent financial burden to instance owners. Not to mention the time for moderation and administration. And even here, in a place full of hardcore FOSS supporters, it’s not like admins are drowned in donations.
If YouTube ads and product placements are the only source of income for content creators, then the only alternative would be that consumers directly pay for the content and the platform. Or that such a platform would be paid by some state / taxes. Both of which don’t sound very realistic to me.
I only ever used it for 3D printing but FreeCAD apparantly also has a floor plan functionality. I found this video that might give you some insights on how it looks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMk7pdnEnXM
When using FreeCAD for 3D printing, you don’t necessarily have to add measures/constraints to everything, so I’d assume it’s similar here.
How the hell can one have patent of ‘catching a creature through aiming’ or even more crazy to me ‘riding a creature’ in games? Both concepts exist in so many games and even in real life. I mean did Nintendo never hear of horses?

I think normally they are made with mesh not transparent hard plastics. If you can speak of normal at all when it comes to cat backpacks. :D
Preparing that yourself or are there places where you can buy pickled watermelon?
Fruity beer is also common in Belgium. It’s not mixed with juice but is already flavored in the bottle as you buy it. And yes, it’s delicious. Kriek for instance is a pretty famous cherry flavored beer.
Also non-alcaholic beer mixed with juice is a pretty decent drink after sports. The slight bitterness and the bubbles makes it really refreshing on hot days.
As sudo applies only for a single command, removing the cover is more like su, no?
sudo would be more if above every covered button there was a tiny hole through which you could push it with a needle or so.
I think it would continue even after it’s own deletion as the binary is already loaded into memory, so process is not dependent on the file system. Still doubt that it’ll complete successfully. Most likely the system crashes in the middle.
