Even having an opinionated choice would be better than what we currently have.

How wonderful that it peaked at 420.
Removing it has to be cheaper than installing it. Bleed Abbott if he wants to play this game.
If you’re good with mega corps like Zoom, then I’d say Google Meet has been perfectly fine for us as a company. There’s also Microsoft Teams.
If you’re looking for something to use on a personal level and not corporate, then you’ve got pick of the litter.
This is not about weapons. That’s a ludicrous viewpoint. We’ve been able to create fusion weapons for decades now by starting them with fission. There’s no way to build a pocket fusion device so it would only ever be a giant nuke, which we can already build.
No, this is really real research. Oil and coal barons know the end is coming for oil and coal, that’s why they’re the primary card holders in renewables too. They don’t actually need to burn fossil fuels, it’s just more profitable to do so right now. Once it’s not, they’ll just turn to the next most profitable thing they’ve got their fingers in.
Dude. Yes they have some small diuretic effects but tea and coffee are overwhelmingly hydrating. It’s just not a good idea to mainline that much caffeine for heart reasons.
Ugh safety. Why can’t people just die for the entertainment of the wealthy?
Probably not. HR would have just pre filtered him anyway.
The German (cockroaches) are invading again?
That’s not going to work for web hosting. The only reason it works for crypto or folding is because each request takes minutes to run and there’s no time dependence on returning the result. Additionally, they don’t need much data and all data needed is dispersed with the task.
Websites are completely different. Each individual request is tiny, taking milliseconds to process. Each request is very time dependant, you have a person literally waiting for the result. But the biggest issue is that what people really want is stuff from a database. So that database would need up grant full access to everyone, meaning anyone could change whatever they wanted. Lastly, that database would need to be hosted anyway so you’ve gained nothing.
Don’t suggest tech solutions when you don’t have any idea what the problem or solution actually involves.
We just need Wikipedia style funding. If the server publishes their costs and fundraises, then people can support it directly. Instead of the stick and carrot of subscriptions or the rat race of ads, just be open and honest about server needs. If the users aren’t able to raise funds, then cut back to what’s affordable. Users will either deal with the reduced server capacity or they’ll need to pay up to continue enjoying it. This doesn’t need to be a free ride, but I trust the community will rally for a good service.
No, extend is a major part of it. That’s how they topple community projects. They extend in good faith at first to get everyone locked in, then they extend in nefarious ways to keep the community stuck playing catch-up. Once they’ve absorbed all the users from the community projects, they kill off back access leaving the community project crippled in users and lost in direction.
Trust me. Facebook will definitely add great things at first but their goal is to draw users out of the fediverse and into Facebook.
No, a large portion of pirates are just “gimme free shit” types. They don’t care about preservation nor fighting various causes. They don’t care about the people who make the free shit nor seed the free shit. They care about nothing but themselves. So I’m actually not surprised to see that sort of me me me sentiment there. The people who did care are probably gone, all that’s left are the leeches.
It’s understandable. Image hosting bloats costs quite a bit. It also introduces new issues with the law as the server admin can’t allow illegal pictures on it. Offloading that onto a separate image host removes both issues with only minor downsides.
I’d much rather kbin focus on long-term posting stability than worry about image hosting. If it gets big, then we can think about it. Reddit went without image hosting for years though.
Giving out actual advice instead of just recommending divorce.
If Reddit does manage to survive, it’s going to be hilarious scrolling through the old histories. Sort of like how you can fingerprint covid times on Youtube.
The real power would be in the union anyway. If they could gather the majority of mods and they actually went through with a strike, it would be a huge test for Reddit. They would have to bring in a ton of scabs or cave to the mods. Scabs may work in the king run, but it would also destroy every community they did it to.
So the real question is whether these mods will actually act as a union or will it’s members buckle in fear of being replaced.
I prefer a premade NAS. They are simple enough that I can train the family on how to use them. They’re small and efficient as well, so I can stuff them in a cabinet without much worry about cooling.
Disgusting, should be a maple syrup bottle instead.
They will probably need it for illumination when the ground war starts but they definitely don’t need it during air raids.
