Why do people keep telling me to ask Al about these questions? He’s just my next door neighbor for god’s sake

Does anyone know if Jetbrains Mono also does the whole dynamic width thing?
Yes, I understand that you can just add more services to integrate your other services together. I just think that it would be far more convenient to have a single service that does all of that in a smart way. Each service could instead be its own plugin that you could opt into. Each plugin would have its own dedicated UI/UX for handling that media type.
Basically it should have a design similar to that of Plex or Jellyfin (which handle multiple media types in a smart, cohesive way). Of course, that would take a lot of coordination and funding, but man it would be such a better overall experience for the vast majority of people.
I’ve had the same question for a while now. My best guess is that they’re trying to create separate services that individually are the best at what they do UI/UX-wise. It may be very difficult to create an all-in-one platform for each type of media as a cohesive experience.
It could also be done for modularity. Having the services split up means the user doesn’t have to deal with media types they don’t care about and could just install the services for which they do.
That being said, it would be nice if there was an all-in-one platform that allowed you to easily opt into the media types you wanted as like plugins or something instead of you having to set up multiple different app containers in your server.

Does anyone know how to access the Image Viewer that the GNOME release notes are talking about? Right now, I have the Eye of GNOME set as my image viewer, but I was wondering if that should’ve been upgraded.
Oh ok. Yeah, I just scale my fonts too. It’s a shame since I heard from somewhere that they were going to fix that fractional scaling issue in this release, but I guess not.
I thought we would get fractional scaling? I still only see the 100%, 200%, and 300% options in my display settings. Am I missing something or was this for a future release?

Visual Studio Code. It has great defaults out of the box, is highly customizable and extensible, has near universal support for every programming language, and runs reasonably fast on my machines.
I’m not personally in the market for a Steam Deck, but I am still incredibly grateful to Valve for all the work they’ve done to support Linux on the desktop as a byproduct.
On one hand, the surge of new Lemmy apps is a little overwhelming, but it’s also very reassuring that there’s so much interest in porting over Reddit apps. I figure that in about a year, things would stabilize and it will be easy to navigate the different options for Lemmy apps.
The color schemes seem good enough to me. I mean, sure it could perhaps be more interesting or vibrant but ehh. There are way more important issues to focus on, in my opinion.
Infinity was an excellent app. Was customizable enough for my needs and didn’t intrude on my experience with ads or other stuff. Sad to see it go. I will probably just stop using it and just use Lemmy from now on.
I wish I could start using Matrix for personal communication, but the fact that every friend and family member I have are already on Discord and the fact that Matrix has non-trivial technical hurdles immediately kills any possibility of using Matrix.
I think at this point, I only use Matrix to engage in a few community chats from time to time.
I have the Kinesis Freestyle Edge keyboard and so far I love it. The split definitely helps in allowing my shoulders to be more relaxed. And I feel like the tilt definitely helps as well, though I wouldnt set the tilt to be too high, as it may cause issues with typing.
Yeah, I wish this post was presented more clearly.
