On iOS, Avelon is the best Lemmy client I have ever used (in my opinion even better than Apollo was), though some features are still missing. Smooth, fluid, beautiful, functional!
I absolutely love that you created a native app, as it’s amazingly fluid, well-integrated and beautiful, though it unfortunately came at the cost of making an Android version not possible.
Thank you for making this!
Looks like the best client so far! Replacing Voyager with this, thank you for this amazing app!
Edit: is it possible to view the instance name in the community name when scrolling down the feed? That seems like the only feature I’m missing from Voyager… (e.g. linux@lemmy.world instead of just linux)
Works perfectly with Voyager app on iOS
I feel like something like Fedora fits the bill: great, reliable, well-maintained repositories, decently updated kernels, yet never faced any major issues, and access to quite updated packages. Only issue is Red Hat caused a stir recently, though I still believe Red Hat does more good than bad in the open source community.
macOS on the laptop (Apple Silicon is amazing!) and Fedora on the desktop. Just moved Windows 11 to a separate disk to rot. Finally all-UNIX!
Apple has always been greedy, in my opinion, but seldom evil.
They are the only major corporation that still makes an effort for privacy (though many people are understandably very skeptical) e.g.
Other reasons I use iOS:
I too rely on governments to rein in their greediness (e.g. Right to Repair, having multiple App Stores, etc.)
Absolutely amazing, detailed answer. Thank you so much for this enlightening answer!
Concerned regarding the state of apps in iOS, probably will have to mourn the loss of Apollo (which was absolutely amazing). I had an amazing iPhone and iPad app I could run on Mac as well.
