Historians have a word for Germans who joined the Nazi party, not because they hated Jews, but out of a hope for restored patriotism, or a sense of economic anxiety, or a hope to preserve their religious values, or dislike of their opponents, or raw political opportunism, or convenience, or ignorance, or greed.
That word is “Nazi.” Nobody cares about their motives anymore.
They joined what they joined. They lent their support and their moral approval. And, in so doing, they bound themselves to everything that came after. Who cares any more what particular knot they used in the binding?

I’m sorry but I just don’t buy that. They don’t have time to talk to anyone who’s actually paying attention? They can’t take ten minutes over the course of several months (for Harris) or years (for Trump) to listen to the candidates speak and see which one can speak in coherent sentences?

We got mad because he was obviously lying.
It started a lot longer ago than that, with the likes of Fox “News” and Rush Limbaugh. It’s been getting worse the whole time.

They don’t do it well, but an attempt was made.
To be fair, that’s an issue in almost every imperative language and even some functional languages. Rust, C, and C++ are the only imperative languages I know of that make a serious effort to restrict mutability.
My brother in Christ, the average person doesn’t even know Lemmy exists.
People don’t know about the weird chunk sizes representing inequality.
They do know about Chocolonely being marketed as a more ethical product.
The one benefit of Vance replacing Trump is that he doesn’t have a cult like Trump does.
