False narrative.
We have less than a dozen morons here. They don’t represent anyone but themselves.
Meanwhile we have entire factions of the Republican party at war with themselves from the Lincoln Project to the infighting in the House just this week.
The left has always had its share of morons.
Well-meaning morons, but morons nonetheless.
The issue is that the centrist and right wing media latch on to the narrative of these fringe weirdos and pretend that they represent the entirety of the left wing, even though there are WAY MORE lefties who find them disdainful.
Yeah. It was the weakest writing in the show’s history, including the entire Lore introduction.
So is lemmy just dead?
This post is the number 1 post when sorting by hot in the category ALL. It’s been here an hour with ZERO comments?
Every other post in my feed is similar. What is happening?
I don’t particularly care for this plot.
Q is omniscient, so he already knew that our history is rife with examples of good people and bad people, brilliant and ignorant… and he comes to judge a fairly utopian future society of a unified, post-capitalism, post-religion Earth? My dude, they’re doing fine.
The main reason that outsourcing is cheaper is that foreign countries don’t have safety or labor standards.
All the progress that unions made suddenly evaporated when we allowed employers to hire foreign companies with lower safety and labor standards.
Now, maybe we should just accept that economic competition and economic competitiveness demand including those unprotected workforces. Fine. For third-world countries, even exploitative factory jobs might be preferable to alternatives.
If we accept that that’s the case, is still unjust for business owners to reap the rewards of circumventing labor and safety standards while American workers lose jobs and have their wages depressed.
Every single cent of outsourcing profit should be taxed at 100 percent, and redistributed to American workers through government programs or tax cuts for workers.
2hrs of the same tired “dur… Woke is dumb!” joke over and over? Hard pass.
Also, cleaning a cut is woke now?
I grew up in the 80s, I’m just ten years younger than Bill Burr, and I can’t get on board with this sort of plot at all.
As if society passed these people by, and they’re just now discovering decades of social evolution.
These characters haven’t watched the news, used social media, or seen a movie in 20 years? Come on.
So, in other words the FBI must have had tons of specific information that this insurrection was going to happen … Yet we had very little law enforcement there or on standby.
This is the part of Jan 6 that has not received nearly enough attention. Either law enforcement was grossly incompetent, or they were deliberately held back to allow the insurrection to succeed. In other words: a coup.
Revolutions are most closely correlated with food insecurity, yes.
But in today’s JIT economy, and the vulnerability of our supply chains, it’s not hard to imagine a set of circumstances where suddenly a huge swath of the population suddenly not knowing where their next three meals are coming from.
I wonder if the ultra rich understand just how much genuine malice is directed at them.
People were cheering for the submarine to implode.
It really seems like the world is full of tinder, waiting for a spark.
That there wasn’t a single mainstream Republican who stood up to Trump during his presidency.
I mean, come on. Who wrote this?
We’re supposed to believe that EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN in government went from taking about how unfit Trump was when he was a candidate … to standing behind him 100% even when he cozied up to Russia, paid hush money to a porn star, and lied about a Presidential election?
Someday in the not too distant future, we’ll have the technology to swap actors in and out of roles in movies. Not just the masking stuff we see with deep fakes, but fully alter the timing and dialog and reactions.
No. Anything JJ Abrams has ever touched doesn’t count.
She and Bill Maher sure sounds like scabs to me.
Interstellar Spaceship Owls are still waiting for their moment.
I just use TurboTax, which asks you questions in order to generate your return, and automatically integrates with most online accounts. There are free alternatives, too.
That episode had an interesting premise but I hated the interactions between Will and Thomas.
The nerve of cmd. Riker using his rank to bully Thomas.
And in the end, Will is like: “I have all our stuff, but here, I’ll give you one item. Have a nice life.”
It was absurd.
I go to lemmy first, but it doesn’t have nearly enough content to replace the endless scrolling of Reddit.
