The IRS has a special procedure for this case called “streamlined procedure”. Unfortunately it’s a little complicated and you have to pay close attention to all the required details.
Since OP was never an American resident or paid taxes, he or she shouldn’t need to file taxes or be flagged on a system for anything anyway.
Unfortunately the US is one of two countries that requires all citizens, regardless of past or present residence or employment, to pay federal taxes.
I can imagine that some authorities might find it suspicious, but in OPs case, it is necessary to travel with both passports to have the least hassle.
Entering the US with your German passport or returning to Germany with your US passport if you have both will lead to a lot of questions as you won’t have the necessary visa in those passports.
Edit: Although I wouldn’t present both passports at the same time, only the one that is applicable or more convenient for wherever you are.
Always enter and exit the US with your US passport. Not doing so is illegal.
For anything else, use your German passport, especially in the EU. That’s what I have been doing for years.
I don’t know if it is an issue for immigration, but you absolutely are required to file taxes every year and can get in trouble if you don’t. There’s a “streamlined procedure” that you can do if you’ve never filed taxes to start filing without incurring any fines or penalties.
I don’t know, Apple releases a “new” version of macOS with big fanfare every year, and I’ve never heard anyone complain about it as if it were a huge breaking change.
I switched to a TKL (tenkeyless) to reduce the distance between my hands when my right hand is on the mouse, and it feels so much better.
I got a programmable keyboard, so I remapped the keys around where my right hand rests to be the numpad keys when I hold the capslock key. That way I can still have the convenience of the numpad without having an actual dedicated numpad, although I’m still getting used to using it this way.
Linux supports it, but (some?) motherboards won’t boot without a display connected. I had this issue recently when I converted my old PC to a NAS and I had to buy a dummy plug.
Both Netflix and Disney+ now have “cheap” tiers with ads, at least here in Germany.
It has also improved a lot in the last years. PHP5 and especially versions older than that weren’t very good and deserved a lot of the criticism. PHP7 and onward are much better languages and don’t deserve the hate.
Youtube have been increasing their anti-adblock efforts dramatically in the last few weeks, changing the scripts multiple times a day. The ublock origin team is very quick in updating the filters though. They have a post on their subreddit with some details.
You’re right, I see it now. My bad!
It’s not fit for a city of this size.
Tokyo would like to have a word with you. It’s not public transit in and of itself that is the issue, it’s the implementation.
To add to that: Configure your notifications. Anything that isn’t urgent doesn’t need to vibrate or make a sound. It can just sit there until you look at your phone. Also, use do not disturb for things like work.
It has always been this way as far as I can remember. Might be because I grew up in Hamburg?
But I can imagine that it has gotten way worse over the years and I just didn’t notice because it’s a slow change.
I’m always surprised by people complaining about seeing communities they don’t want to see. Does everyone really browse “all”?! Why don’t people just browse “subscribed” and only subscribe to communities they like?
That’s how I understand “all but”, but I’ve seen many people use it the opposite way, so maybe we’re wrong?
FYI lemmy ate all the classes on your divs.
FWIW it works fine in Firefox if you change the user agent.
Even if you’re downloading the file directly from the URL found in the RSS feed, that doesn’t mean that ads can’t be dynamically injected into the file. A URL like https://download.my.podcast/episode4.mp3 can still be answered by a script that serves a custom version of the podcast with region specific ads.
