If a Kbin member requests deletion of their personal account and they happen to be a community owner, would ownership of that community default to the moderator with the next-longest tenure? That’s how it worked at the bad place, is it the same way here?

Not sure, but account deletion is a manual process here. I suspect what actually happens is that the magazine is tranferred to the default owner / first admin account. On kbin.social that would be ernest.

Not sure of the historical average time. It’s a manual process though so it will take some time for the admins to get to it.

Also, do the posts get nuked along with the account, or do they remain on Kbin?

I saw an example of this some months ago. It seems like the posts do get nuked, though with recent updates I’m not 100% certain that this is still the case. Again see /m/trans - most likely it was one of those subs where most of the threads were started by the owner posting, so when the owner’s account was deleted, so to did those threads and posts.

Actually it’s worse than this - as the entire thread is gone, including other commenters’ replies.

Ideally there would have been a way to merge threads and preserve the comments from both. Too late now I guess, but something to keep in mind next time something like this happens I suppose…

That can be the case, sometimes issues with federation can cause threads to get lost across instances, and a new instance may not get all the existing threads on a pre-existing magazine.

However, it looks like both your account and this magazine are hosted on lemmy.world - since you’re both on the same instance, you should have been able to see the older posts on this magazine. (Note: magazine is the kbin term for lemmy communities - i prefer it as the term community can be ambiguous). I’ve never used lemmy proper so am not sure how that works, but on kbin you can view the older threads on a magazine quite easily.

Hmm so it seems like that deleted the comments old the older post from others too. Didn’t expect that to be honest.

Mostly was just curious why this one in particular was chosen to be reposted twice.

Ah I think I remember that. It was r/mildlyinteresting iirc - an admin demodded the entire mod team for breaking a rule that they didn’t actually break (they filled the flag but didn’t actually allow any NSFW) and a different admin added them back.

Their admins fight over who does what to whom and apparently they close subs then threaten themselves demanding that they reopen them.

What? Where and when did this happen?

And why did it shut down and have to be replaced by r/196 ?

I mean maybe that’s the plan. He tried to back out of buying Twitter because he knew it would hurt him - now he’s trying to extract as much wealth as possible from Twitter before making it self-destruct, so he at least breaks even and can pay all that debt back without taking any losses himself.

I think the 300 is coming from those who pledged to stay dark. Some might have stayed dark without explicitly repledging.

I figure it was two things. First, the pretty printer did something so he knew it was all pretty printed. He asked that to show he really did go over every line (even if not true he probably made the effort hence the month delay).

Second he probably thought, dang these guys wrote 800 mb of code in six months. They’re good 。
