I saw on the CBC last night a story of a restaurant worker who was fired because she wore a mask. That’s how bonkers we in Canada have become lately.

To answer my own question, I find that lemmur does not work on my phone. So, Jerboa it is.
I’m new here. I love Lemmy. It took me a bit to get it working right (issues with the language settings), but now that it is working, I think it’s great. I currently use it on my laptop, but I’m also considering an app for my phone. I found two here on F-Droid, those being Jerboa and lemmur. Does anyone have any opinions on which is the better app?
We could go full lemming: https://openclipart.org/detail/120943/lemming
Okay, yes, this is where the issue was. Undetermined was enabled, but English was not. Enabling both of these options has fixed it. Thanks so much!
Fabulous!
I’ve tried that and the behaviour is still the same. Likewise, I’ve tried Chromium (Debian version of Chrome) rather than Firefox, and the behaviour is still the same.
Also, the only way of responding to your comment is via my Inbox. Responding to a comment via the thread does not work. Often I can’t see the comments (except through my Inbox, or if I log out).
Here’s another quick photo from today (2023-07-17), supposedly displaying all the post of the past week. Clearly there were more. I can see more when I log out and just browse the group, but when I log in many posts are not displayed.
Attempt number two. These images came from the OpenClipArt gallery.
It’s Lemmy from Motorhead, who was part of the inspiration for the name of the software:
Where does the name come from?
It was nameless for a long time, but I wanted to keep with the fediverse tradition of naming projects after animals. I was playing that old-school game Lemmings, and Lemmy (from motorhead) had passed away that week, and we held a few polls for names, and I went with that.
Yes. It hasn’t seemed to help.
I found “show read posts”, which is checked in my settings. So that isn’t the reason.
It’s still happening. The list of posts that I get is still incomplete.
Here’s a Lemmy themed logo which is indicative of where the instance is located (that being Canada).
I don’t see this option in my settings.
Thanks, yes, that is where it’s listed. I just noticed the “unread” and “all” filters, which (being set on the default “unread”) buggered up the list. And thanks for the documentation link. I’ll take a look.

Thanks for your comment. However, I have found that putting an exclamation mark before the name of the community does not work, despite this being the default instruction given for how I “can subscribe from another Fediverse account”. As I mentioned, I successfully followed some of the communities (hockey, ontario, ndp --> and this was by searching for these communities without the exclamation mark, because the exclamation mark prevented the finding of these communities) whereas others, with or without an exclamation mark, were not to be found (IE, toronto, canada, main).
I check into Reddit once in a while, but I mostly hang out here now.
