  • I feel like ssdi or ssi are only “okay” if you live with family. I’m a single adult with no relatives, and the 1k/month(ish) I get isnt even enough to cover renting an apartment where I live. Even if I lived with family for free, that 1k/month wouldn’t be enough to pay for the things I need that are directly associated with my disabilities (doctor visits, travel, assistive devices, a maid or property manager, my service dog and her needs, etc.).

There was a study recently that showed support for assisted dying is higher among poor populations. No shit, we can’t afford to live, and we can’t afford to die from our issues either lol

  • I’m not in retail anymore, and I never did clothing retail, but working in theater costuming has really changed my ideas. Like, I know I am fat because at my height and weight my bmi puts me well in obese territory. But measuring people a few inches taller has put an interesting spin in my head. I know someone with the same bust size who is three inches taller and now I understand why some “large” sizes will fit both of us even though by size my cup is several sizes larger than her.

People have been telling me for years that I’m “not fat”. I know they are delusional because of the numbers, but seeing other people with similar measurements does actually put it into perspective.

  • I think you can try both at the same time actually.

You got an awesome taste from your friends on what clothing design can be. Do you have a theater in your school, or a local professional one? You can try costume design for more of the “this is what it’s like as work” idea. I’m not going to lie, you might even find work as a sculptor in theater, but your background in sculpting will definitely feed your experience as a costume designer or even just in costume construction. So you could spend two years in consume construction as a hobby and decide that’s what you really do, then move into a master program with fashion design.

  • The great Speak No Evil god is shocked at the things he’s heard, and has punished those who have offended him by removing their mouths. Warnings have been posted on most city blocks so others do not suffer their fate.

    Prompt

A storefront with a television in the window. On the television is a monkey with his hand over his mouth. The store has a sign that says ‘Speak no Evil!’ in bold red letters. Humans walking past have solid skin in place of mouths. The humans look puzzled or concerned. The storefront window is slightly cracked. The style is more anime like.

  • I’m assuming it’s because most people do not keep their cats indoors here. This is a very agricultural area. So quite a lot of cats are shop/barn cats. The cat I adopted in this state is actually tattooed, but I adopted him from a shelter a little over 200 miles away and things start becoming much more urban the further in that direction you go from my “city”.

  • It would help if you had some pictures of the leaves before they fell to rule other things out, but it looks like a blight to me. That spreads by spores entering injured plant tissue. That’s why you see the plant producing resin, it’s trying to block off the sites where leaves fell so the disease doesn’t spread to other areas.

It could definitely be injury from water stress, but could also be temperature stress if you have large fluctuations in anbient temp throughout the day. I kind of wonder if watering by placing the pot in a tub would be more beneficial? Plants will sometimes take up more water that way, but with the mix you have it won’t be staying in the substrate long enough to cause rot

  • There is another reason why it’s so problematic to have hundreds of acres of flat farming land or flat cities. People fill in vernal pools, and suddenly migratory birds and other animals have no where to pause on their journeys to drink and feed. It’s another piece of the overall puzzle causing the decline of animal and insect numbers
