Not just Mercury’s story. All those times the movie had Mercury spiraling into sex and drugs and the movie versions of May and the rest of the group were cuddling with their wives and girlfriends. You know, the way they were famous for doing.
Started this because I didn’t see it in theatres and can’t find the og discussion thread.
I finally watched Barbie after a full year of heavy PR campaigns to see the best movie of the year that was saving theatres and driving studios to go back to original IP for film ideas. And after all that my reaction is a solid…meh.
It was fine. I felt other movies have done the same themes but better and more cohesively. And I’m not sure what the final message of the movie even was. It felt like there was some boardroom interference in the final product because you could see the story aiming at something, then changing course before they got to a satisfying conclusion.
Acting and set design was good, it just overall felt like a miss that was made bigger by the giant campaign they launched to sell the movie as great.
Not surprised tbh. Services cost money. Good services cost more money. It’s the basic triangle of expectations.
Part of the problem came from the fight for economic dominance during the Cold War. The fight to prove which was better, Capitalism or Communism, made a lot of people go nuts with economic theories
There’s a Canadian Politics community on Lemmy.World too. It’s very small but that can change!
To what end? The more spread out they are the less engagement they have and the sub flounders. Look at what happened to r/android. Went from being one of the largest communities on lemmy.world to puttering along on their new instance, losing a good chunk of users back to Reddit where everything is simple and in one place.
Because it actually does make a difference an dthats why they started two communities on different instances.
What discourages people to join is not knowing which instance to join. Which is exactly how we got two communities branching off like this.
What discourages people from joining is acting like “federation Yay” is actually a selling point instead of a nuisance that you have to accept. Just look at the downvotes this got in minutes. How is that encouraging?
They should probably join Lemmy.world tbh
I can’t use Reddit for most of the day because I don’t want to use their app. So all my energy is going towards the alternatives.
I like squabbles because it tends to be simpler, less technical than here. They need more users but the combination of the two sites is scratching the Reddit itch.
Yes, it’s a huge problem. New users are confused when they first get introduced. Ive been here for weeks and I still don’t understand everything. The explanations and infographics that have been made are a mess. It’s why there’s a certain kind of user that makes up the bulk of the site right now.
Doesn’t help that the first attempts to explain it were basically denial that there was a problem and insulting people for not understanding.
I deleted everything. It’s too bad, a lot of searches are going to turn up threads and find blank spaces where the answers should be.
I find these videos so relaxing, like ASMR
Double bonus, I learn something!
This assumes Q was there to actually judge humanity and not begin a dialogue with Picard and the Federation. In his own omnipotent way. It’s not a judgement, it’s more of a test or like a training.
