Originally there was supposed to be one in 2042 but if I remember correctly they couldn’t get it running in time for launch so it was planned to be added in as post launch content.
That was the reason for a lot of the design decisions in the release build of 2042 seeming so disjointed for a traditional battlefield game.
I think it’s ridiculous that they’re chasing that. It’s not what the brand has been about since it’s inception and honestly seems further away from what most of us long time battlefield fans want out of the series.
That said, we certainly aren’t generating new revenue streams for them so I understand how they have to Make sure that line goes up every year.
