I’ve been trying to create a discussion and debate community but clicking the “Create” button after filling everything out isn’t working. Using this page

please make sure the name of the community (in the name field) doesn’t have any spaces or special characters. This is used for the URL of the page. So instead of putting “General Discussion” under the name field you’d put “generaldiscussion” or “general_discussion” (as underscores are okay.)

I also just tried to create a community and while it did create the community, it didn’t refresh. If the loading icon is just spinning, try refreshing the page.

In both the name and the display name boxes it was just the word “Discussions”. It’s possible I left a space at the end so I’ll give it another shot.

Also I did put in a banner and icon placeholder till I figure a real one out, but is that also a requirement to create?

If it doesn’t work, let me know and I’ll make the community for you and set you as a mod.

I figured it out. I had a capital letter in the URL name.

Also no banner or icons were necessary which is nice.

          Thank you for the idea.

Glad you figured it out! I know lemmy is not always obvious as to why things are not working (in fact it almost never is. xD) So, I’m glad you managed to figure it out.
