Will there be any effort to encourage and or aid in a migration from reddit to Lemmy?
Tbh I think although they won’t be making a push for that right now on /r/2007scape, we can slowly improve and grow this community here which in time will entice people to switch.
This is a great mindset with everything going on right now. Thanks for the positivity! :)
That’s the idea
As moderator, I won’t encourage or promote the site to be entirely honest. I am really just trying to safe guard an open and safe forum for OSRS folks so any one interested in going beyond that is welcome to.
Thanks for the reply! Are you saying you wouldn’t recommend using the site? Or are you saying that you’re just personally not going to put the energy into promoting it?
Sorry! I had an incredibly busy weekend… No I sincerely think Lemmy is a great forum and I have genuinely left reddit. However, I only hold this page because I want to create the same kind of space on Lemmy and make sure content is well moderated. I have been a redditor for almost 15 years and a osrs player for about as long. I know what I loved about the subreddit and I just want to make sure its properly maintained here. That being said, that’s really all I am going to do is moderate. Hopefully that’s more clear!
Just joined now rif is about to shut down, lift off is a great app for this
Lol if I ever find myself navigating to reddit I’ll be sure to link here. New crib who dis
RIF just stopped rn.
RIP Reddit. Hello lemmy
It would be nice, though I’m sure it’s really popular to think it’s a joke to care about anything and go with the hivemind (the younger Twitch crowd especially). Also there’s a lot of addicts in the RS community and I doubt they’re willing to dislodge the boot when it means giving up some of their content.
reddit really shitting the bed with this, i want alternatives
I doubt it. The post about reopening was mostly full of people making fun of the protest. I doubt many scapers will leave, especially since it’s the main forum for Jagex Customer Service.
I haven’t really noticed a strong stance against the API changes from most RuneScape players. The r/runescape subreddit even decided to delay the protest to not disturb the discussion around the Monday update (that was the trading above max cash update though).
I doubt most of them would be willing to migrate without there being an active community here already. And they probably should wait until we have better app support.
I think I’m good with all the tik tok grade redditors staying off of here. If they want to roll around in spez’s ad laden shit puddle, then let them.
I hate to talk shit about any community but r/2007scape has went massively downhill, it may just be a reddit thing and I’m also getting older so I have less patience for trolls and users I wish were trolling. Just seems like its impossible to have any normal conversation, it’s always constant trolling, rude comments, personal attacks, etc… I know every online social medium gives people that power to be a dick anonymously but it’s pretty frustrating to not be able to have normal discussion without heated exchanges.
I noticed a lot of the time when someone posts that they finished a ridiculously long grind, half the comments are calling them mentally ill. It doesn’t matter to them that people have had a decade to grind, or that some people really are just happy with spending a large part of their lives playing this game.
Exactly and too each, their own. I mean a lot of the time when I see absolutely crazy grinds (like 200m one skill at a time) I definitely question someone’s lifestyle and mental health but it’s an internal thought that I don’t feel the need or desire to discuss with random people who play the same time sink and I don’t want to risk needlessly offending someone or bringing someone down. Again it may be an age thing but I have become much more of a lurker than a poster and commenter because it’s all extremes and no middle ground for discussion or general decency.
