Slightly older (2021) article I found while searching for this place. It pretty much says what we’ve all been saying.

Totally agree. I am now in a position with enough disposable income to pay for the service. We now pay for an IPTV service every month that gives us access to live tv from every country plus tv and movies on demand for 10€ a month. We also pay for one streaming service a month and switch providers; so one month it’s Netflix, the next Apple, then HBO, and so on… But here is the real kicker for us; even paying for a platform some stuff we want to watch isn’t available in our country. It’s simply not available and that’s why we have a seedbox for the high seas.

We have family Spotify subscription so currently pay around 30€ a month in streaming services for tv and music. I think that’s a reasonable amount for the entertainment it provides for the family. We use STube for YouTube; even tried YouTube premium for a couple of months but even that isn’t a patch on Stube with the in video ad blocking.

So even with all that we still sail the high seas. If the rights holders were smart they would combine the services so each get a cut. The model they have today is just pure greed.
