Thought I would start a thread and get some traction for this community. What are some of your favorite retro games? My favorite is Super Mario Bros 3.

More than it’s worth counting, but I’ve probably replayed Ocarina of Time more than the rest. I’ve also replayed the early Final Fantasy games quite a few times.

How fast are you able to get through the Final Fantasy games? I stay away from them, I can’t commit a lot of time to a game. But they are so big in the industry, I really need to pick one and get through it.

For 1-3 (NES/Famicom), it took me just around a week to platinum the pixel remasters on the PlayStation. I boosted my experience and Gil gain to 2x to speed things up, and you can boost those to 4x as well if you want to move even faster. It doesn’t affect trophies. There are some missable items, so if you want to get a platinum like me, just have a missable guide handy as you play through.

FF4 (SNES/Super Famicom) took me over a week to platinum, and I assume 5 & 6 will as well, but progress on those have been postponed for Tears of the Kingdom and probably FF16 as well.

Some of my favorites are Super Metroid, Majoras Mask, Ocarina of Time, Terranigma and Chrono Trigger. I only got to play most these games in the recent years since that era of gaming is basically before my time BUT they hold up remarkably well!

Favorite game ever is Final Fantasy 6 (FF3 in the states). It’s got that steampunk vibe, the BEST character development, worst villain, and the music SLAPS. Don’t even look at original cartridge prices though, it’ll make you sick.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I grew up in the 80s as a big fan so of course I had to own this.

Super Mario Bros 3 This game is peak Mario, every 2d Mario game past it just makes me want to go back to this one.

The Legend of Zelda It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this.

T&C Surf Designs Odd game but my brother and I would always try to out do each other on how far we could get.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the Arcade Game One of the best beat em up coop games on the NES.

Now these are just some of my NES favorites. I could make another list of my OG Gameboy favorites.

There are plenty of great older games, but one in particular never fails to start a party, and by “party” I mean “lifelong feud among otherwise rational folks”.

    The one, the only…Dr. Mario.

Even just typing that, I can hear the music in my head and it’s making me feel aggro.

Bro, I still replay Shin Megami Tensei for some reason. Every time it gets a re-translation in another console/handheld, I go back to play it and it’s enjoyable to me. Hell, right now I’m waiting until someone translates SMT again, but the one that’s on RPGMaker VX iirc. It seems to have more content added to it.

Every couple of years I kick up the original Diablo game. The game didn’t have all the features of Diablo 2, but it had an amazing creepy atmosphere with an awesome theme… and I had to pull it up. Haunting.

    Tristram Theme

Just finished Zelda ToTK, probably going to start up The Minish Cup which is supposed to be good… Picking a fav is hard though. I have most nostalgia for Gameboy and PS1 games

I really need to finish up ToTK… Gameboy and PS1 was a great time. Games felt different back then.

Metroid: Zero Mission is my favorite these days since I recently beat it for the first time. Now I jump into it every few days and enjoy just running around and attacking and bombing and stuff.

Super Mario Land 2 is like a fever dream to me- my favorite Mario game has to be Super Mario World though. Excellent level design, clean and simple surface-level gameplay patterns, and clever secrets around every corner
