Not sure if reddit discussion is taboo here, but may want to reach out to the mods of /r/retrogaming, as they’d have prior experience with this sort of thing. I’ve reached out to the mods at /r/emulation to see if they’d move over here too and so far discussion seems positive.
(disclaimer, I used to moderate at both of those subreddits, have not been a mod since 2020 and don’t personally have interest in doing so anymore).
