First time my wife and I have ever foraged, we found this chicken of the woods growing from a tree on our street would you believe it, cooked and ate some last night and it was amazing!

    Thanks for all the info! I did have a nugget size portion myself first in case there was any sudden reaction, then we had it later for dinner. It was growing from a living tree but it wasn’t a Yew.

    It tasted like mushroomy chicken! Texture is very close. Also it was incredibly filling and I feel like it has supercharged me for the day haha

      You’re welcome. I’m jealous, I’ve never tried it before! How did you cook it, on its own or in something? I always imagined having it as part of a creamy pasta dish for some reason.

        Yeah it would probably work very well as you described. We had it battered and fried in a southern BBQ style with mash potatoes and collard greens, just delicious and I can’t overstate how filling it is haha
