Iran has been trying to evade sanctions and continue selling its oil abroad, while the U.S. and its allies have been seizing cargoes since 2019 after the country’s nuclear deal allowing the trade collapsed.

You misspelled “since 2019 when Trump blew up the only good thing that the US has done in the middle east for God knows how long.”

I agree Trump blew that up. That being said sanctions are the tool if the day now I guess. And if you don’t enforce them, what is the point? Unless people want the US to send in troops.

And when Iran retaliates the US media reports that Iran seizes American cargo ships for no reason.

When the government does it, it’s not illegal.

Also if the government allows a private entity to do it, it’s not piracy, it’s privateering.

I find that incredibly confusing. Wouldn’t they realize that even if they were the staunchest supporters of those regimes, they’d still be seen as an enemy for being LGBTQ?

Ah yes, blame Biden when it was Trump who shat on the deal the US had made with Iran. Also making such future deals less likely since the World is now made aware any random elected clown can just destroy years of diplomatic effort in one swift blow.

If Biden weren’t partially to blame, then the Biden admin would have offered to restart the agreement with no changes. Instead, the Biden admin has demands for Iran to make more concessions to re-start the deal the US unilaterally terminated - a deal that Iran never violated. Biden is no better than Trump.

It’s pretty clear I think all sanctions should be ended. All sanctions ever do is hurt the people.

“Solution”. There isn’t a way for us to force Iran to change. That has to come from within. Sanctions don’t do that - siege warfare just forces everyone in Iran to hunker down and endure Western aggression, with the poorest being hurt the worst. The solution is peace.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Ship-tracking data analyzed by The Associated Press showed the Marshall Islands-flagged Suez Rajan began the hourslong ship-to-ship transfer of its oil to another tanker, the MR Euphrates, near Galveston, some 70 kilometers (45 miles) southeast of Houston.

In July, the top commander of the Revolutionary Guard’s naval arm threatened further action against anyone offloading the Suez Rajan, with state media linking the recent seizures to the cargo’s fate.

The delay in offloading the Suez Rajan’s cargo had become a political issue as well for the Biden administration as the ship had sat for months in the Gulf of Mexico, possibly due to companies being worried about the threat from Iran.

In a letter dated Wednesday, a group of Democratic and Republican U.S. senators asked the White House for an update on what was happening with the ship’s cargo, estimated to be worth some $56 million.

“To ensure this never happens again, the Biden administration must enforce our existing sanctions, stop greenlighting the (Guard’s) terrorism and hostage ‘diplomacy’ and end this posture of appeasement to a nation that chants ‘death to America,’” she said.

On Sunday, Iranian state media released a video dated Thursday that showed the USS Bataan with small Guard fast boats trailing it as it traveled through the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf through which 20% of the world’s oil passes.
