So for the longest time my character has been a male highlander Hyur. I made him to kinda look like me. I usually tank in DF, and would receive a middling amount of commendations after a run.

About a week ago I decided to completely change stuff up. I fantasia’d into a male Viera, and candidly made him gorgeous. Also made an attractive adventure plate for him too.

And ever since I’ve changed, the comms just seem to flow in. Way more than they used to, and I’m still the same mediocre tank.

But now I’m a pretty bunny boy. And it seems people like pretty bunny boys. I had no idea.

Since the portrait addition, having a good-looking character and cool/fun portrait are the best ways to farm commendations. I actually like that, because when playing an MMO expressing myself is more fun to me than the gameplay.

Not that I can talk. I main healer, so I’ve got nearly twice as many comms as I have instances run.

Honestly, having a good looking character helps big time! When giving comms I go healer first and if they weren’t good. Tank and then prettiest plate.

But that’s just me though 😅😅

My partner changed from Viera male to Lalafell female, making super cute portraits for every job, specifically to farm comms and yup, it works.

Yep, as a DPS who is used to rarely getting comms, I now joke when I do get them it’s because of the portrait! 😁

Before portraits I would just give comms to tank or healer, whoever I felt did better, but now if a DPS has a good looking portrait I’ll give to them before even considering default tank/healer comms

An attractive character and slick adventure plate will win over most people the majority of the time, in my experience. Imo, there’s no way to tell in-game how well people did, barring deaths/revives, and really good healers, so what sticks in your mind after combat is that cute miqo that was winking at you at the start.

I usually play healer so I get comms by default. To try to restore some amount of balance I always give my comm to whichever DPS had the least upsetting performance. However, if Limit Break is never used the entire time and I cast it on the last boss as the healer then I give it to the tank, instead. :)

I usually give my comm to whoever’s doing well on the imaginary leader board and moving the run along quickly.
