I started nail art in 2020, and learned most of the techniques through reddit. Looking forward to sharing what I know and learning more cool skills on Lemmy!
Any fellow laqueristas here?
You should be happy with it. That’s pretty damn cool.
Haha, thanks! It’s way easier than it looks, and tons of fun. You just need nail polish, a cup of water, and a toothpick. My Simple Little Pleasures on youtube has a TON of tutorials.
Really? That’s all you need to make it? That’s really inpressive, especially the colorful swirls!
Ex-laquerista here. They look great! I always have issues with cleanup, but your cuticles are pretty much perfect.
Also I don’t know if you saw the other comment, but there is Lemmy laqueristas now!
Yes! I’m pretty new to all this and am on Beehaw, so went and made a new account on lemmy.world just to join. Laqueristas was one of my favourite relaxed communities on reddit. Thank you for making this one!
I didn’t make it, just very determined to help it succeed!
Hello! I’m happy to see a few laqueristas have made it to Lemmy :) cleanup brush is clutch, but my eczema preventing me from growing much cuticle at all helps too.
Yes!! Come join https://lemmy.world/c/lemmylaqueristas
Ooh! I will! I’ve been looking for a lemmy laqueristas community. Glad someone else started one because I don’t have the time to moderate.
Hello fellow nail artists! In addition to the Lemmy group, I wanted to let you all know that there is a kbin group as well:
Those colours look great. It reminds me of the swirls in fancy icecream, or old school batik marbling. I’ve never done this technique because I’ve always thought it would take a long time to dry. It’s an awesome effect though.
Oh my gosh, more fediverse laqueristas!! Thanks for sharing! I guess for now I’ll just post to the kbin and lemmy group and see which one grows
It actually dries really quickly! As long as your polish is spreading on the water correctly (some thicker ones just gloop up) you are getting a VERY thin layer from watermarbling. It actually can change the colors a lot because it is so thin. For this one I used a white base coat, which helps make everything pop but also lightens the colors. You never quite know how it will turn out until you try it!
Indeed the laquerista community is seemingly quite active on the Fedi! 💅
And here is another @Nails community on kbin, which was created after their little sub received reddit threats. I’m subscribing to all the groups, big and small. I figure it doesn’t really matter whose is biggest in the end (there were multiple subreddits on the same topic too), as they will all show up in my home feed.
I’m definitely gonna have to dive in and give marbling a go. Luckily I’ve got some cuticle protectors because I imagine my first attempts are gonna be messy!
