AI is mediocre at everything. If your best friend is only as good at being a person as chat GPT is at writing code that works, you probably won’t find the relationship fulfilling.
Feels like Nozick’s experience machine. Knowing it’s a machine ultimately makes it feel hollow, no matter how close to the real thing the experience is. Then you realize that’s your closest thing to a friend, can’t leave you in a good headspace.
That’s a good insight. One scenario that I worry about is that everyone will get into their own mini bubbles of simulated realities, unwilling to communicate with other bubbles.
