Goddamnit. Dear world, some of us tried but there’s too much bullshit. This is extremely depressing and I fear for all my friends who aren’t straight white “regular” people.

What the fuck is wrong with people

I think you’re overestimating the influence of the auth-left on Lemmy - this is an extremely small place in the grand scheme of things, and while I think they had a truly shit take, it would be too generous to say that they even moved the needle.

Right, so I chose lemmy.ml in June 2023 right at the start of the exodus from Reddit as it appeared to be a “sensible default” at that point. I’m not even sure that lemmy.world was around at that point, it certainly did not appear to be the “sensible default” it appears to have turned into.

I’m not using the instance as any kind of political statement, this is just the account I use to interact with Lemmy as a network. I could certainly move off the instance, but I’ve found that filtering out some content makes the instance mostly usable for my purposes.

Feel free to check my post history as to whether I’m auth left or not, I’m certain you’ll find that I’m not. Leaning more and more left as the days pass, to be sure, but with no love for authoritarianism.

Also iirc lemmy.ml doesn’t require an email address which is another plus. My account was also with ml initially. The only disadvantage of lemmy.ml is that if you go to all or local you’ll see all of that tankie BS.

How many people actually voted third party? Looking at just the green party total votes, that can’t have been enough to tip the election. Too many people stayed home, not enough were convinced by Harris’ campaign.

For a moment there, I thought the younger people of America had in them the capacity to do the obvious righteous thing, and to banish the demons once and for all.
The younger people of America have shown what they are made of, and never again will I overestimate them.

had a discussion with my peers about it. “I can finally buy a house!” they said. As that meme says, ‘This is how democracy ends? with thunderous applause?’

I wish I could turn my brain off and just vote for trump like so many others around me. I wish it was that simple.

Tbh it doesn’t matter, anyone who believes in progressive ideals should continue to live that way and vote accordingly in the future. It’s obvious from looking at Bidens and Harris votes that turnout was a huge issue this time around. I almost want to say maybe people were scared into staying home, which would make sense given some of the pre-election rhetoric
