Hello,

Small post, I hope this is the correct community.

I am based in Europe, and it’s funny to see comments and posts coming when people in the US end their work day or check Lemmy at lunch.

Reminds me a bit of Reddit in the old days, when you could feel the pulse of the different populations. Makes the whole experience a bit more organic.

That’s all for me, have a good one!

Try running global Internet services offered in multiple languages. With the right kind of monitoring, you can see individual countries waking up and going to sleep, without any geolocation, just by watching changes in language mix.

I’ve noticed that I often wake up to some notifications after going to sleep at midnight local time. It’s like opening some presents every morning.

Still up? Yeah I kinda like when I pop off 10 comments and get nothing, go to bed, and then wake up and they have a bunch of upvotes and replies. It’s a nice little surprise but it does make it hard to hold a conversation sometimes

American here. When I start seeing European posts in my All feed I know I’ve stayed up too late and need to go to bed. It’s fun to see them, too. Sometimes I almost think I can understand the Dutch headlines.

I’ve heard that the Dutch are really Germans who suffered head injuries. Since they cannot drive safely in their condition, they were sent to the Netherlands to recover where they can get around on foot or on bicycle.

I’d throw you way off. I’m in the U.S. but I’m usually awake by 4 am (thanks, dogs), my lunch is at 10:45 and I’m usually in bed by 8 due to the aforementioned dogs waking me up at 4.

Hello fellow forced to be morning bird! Not dogs for me though sadly, work. Critters go nuts once they know I’m up though!

Work starts at 7. At this point, I sort of enjoy having 3 hours of quiet before work. I have a relaxing cup of tea, I exercise, I hang out with the mutts, etc. It does suck that I have to be in bed so early, but it sucks more for my wife because I can’t be out late anywhere at this point. If I try really hard, I can stay up until 10. It took excess caffeine to get me to stay up until midnight on NYE (I can’t remember why I had to now).

And what sucks is that if I do stay up late, I can’t sleep in the next day because the dogs wake me up! I wish I was the sort of person that can just go back to sleep once they’ve been woken up, but when I’m awake, I’m awake.

I’m an American who lives in Spain with insomnia. I want this to feel special but I just can’t feel it. I’m kind of joking around. I am actually an American who lives in Spain. I am actually a person who has a hard time sleeping. The rest of your post is hard for me to identify with, mostly because I in fact know that people post things long before they end their work day. I guess I see posts from the rebellious people? I like the rebels who are posting before the end of their work day. These days, if you can find some time to subtract money hours from your employer to post about bullshit, you do that. Nobody is paying you enough to wait until you clock out to post bullshit on the internet. Europe and America have this in common. Work more for shit pay.

Oh man, I always hated it. When the Americans come out I find the quality of Internet discourse drops significantly and the chums come out in force.
