Loved the show, this is my interpretation of the spider mech in the third act. Not as cool as the one from the show, but the closest I’ve ever gotten in my style.
I think there’s also a ghost in the shell community it’d be worth posting to! I don’t think they have much traffic but fan art would be a great post for the comm
I fuckin love me some ghost in the shell, I can’t wait to do my next rewatch of the show. I should rewatch the movies sometime, I’ve only seen them each once
I’ve only ever seen the first movie. You’re telling me there’s a series?
And I’ll look for the community.
There’s a manga, an old animated movie, a second animated movie, a modern live action movie, two seasons of a show, a bunch of OVAs, and maybe more 😅 there’s a bunch of ghost in the shell stuff
I’m a big fan of the animated movies and the show. I haven’t seen the OVAs or read much of the manga. The live action movie is less bad than a lot of live action reboot/remakes, but still not great in my opinion :/ realy cool set, prop, and costume design though!
and maybe more
There’s also the PS1 game with quite a lot of FMVs. It’s probably the only adaptation with actual Fuchikomas instead of the other Think Tank designs.
Is the ps1 game worth playing? I think I remember trying to emulate what I imagine was the PSP port of the ps1 game, but I don’t think I got very far into it
I never played the PSP and PS2 games which were both tie-ins to S.A.C.
The PS1 game uses the designs and voice actors from the original movie. It’s a really fun shooter where you are playing as a member of Section 9 (although I think you never leave your Fuchikoma) in a new story written by the original author. One of the best parts is that you can walk on pretty much every wall and ceiling. But keep in mind, that the game can get very hard.
That sounds pretty cool, maybe I’ll give it a shot!
Did you do construction on this ahead of line work? It feels like you’ve taken a really well visualized form and deliberately given it a sketched out comic book style. Love the attention to lighting, it makes the shapes pop.
What do you mean by construction? I used references for the colors of the mech. In this case I found some big worn out yellow machines to pull my pallet from.
That is, did you sketch out the 3D forms prior to sketching outlines. It’s hard to get the shapes to pop like this unless you’re thinking carefully about the 3D construction of it. Well done either way.
Oh I get it, thank you! No I just drew it and redrew many parts again and again until I got the shapes I wanted. Using simple shapes and trying to use depth with lighting is probably what makes it look good.
Very cool, thanks for sharing
Thank you! And you’re welcome!
