I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else here with an 8:9 monitor, so I’ll break the ice! The color theme is Layan Light; everything else is stock KDE.
You like Huey Lewis and the News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He’s been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this; Fore!, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is “Hip To Be Square”. A song so catchy, most people probably don’t listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it’s not just about the pleasures of conformity and the importance of trends. It’s also a personal statement about the band itself.
Are you calling them a psycho for running a square monitor, or are you calling them hip
is that a rain coat?
Any particular reason for that aspect ratio?
It’s a single monitor (LG DualUp) but it’s effectively the size of two 16:9 1440p displays stacked on top of each other.
Oh, that’s cool! Like a reverse ultrawide
Basically, yeah! Similar aspect ratios were somewhat common in the early days of the PC. It’s great when working with two tall windows at once (text documents, for example) or a single document where you want space in both directions (spreadsheets)
This kind of aspect ratio makes 100x more sense for any kind of work (not gaming) than ultrawide imo.
I run a DualUp as well. I love it
Have you tried it with a tiling WM? I’ve been debating whether I should switch.
Yeah, I tried it with hyprland and COSMIC. I’m currently using KDE, but if I get enough energy to configure hyprland on NixOS, I’ll switch to that. COSMIC wouldn’t let me use Steam, so I had to switch back to KDE. Tiling on COSMIC was really nice, though.
Hey it’s me
I’ve got a DualUp on the left and right side with a 32” in the middle. It’s heaven.
Looks amazing! I don’t really appreciate the modern trend of rounded corners too much
