A little more ominous than my happy island diorama, but I like variety. With dioramas with people in them I try to capture the snapshot of a story.
The insurgent took a lot of cutting and sculpting to mix together different kit parts. I really wanted in the diorama to focus on the ground. It might sound strange, but I notice the ground tends to be pristine in dioramas, so I took care to add various pieces of trash to make it more lived in, as well as making the pathway’s dirt texture noticably different than the surroundings.
This looks really cool! Very well done
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing! I really like the general vibe. I would love to know where you got the figure hiding behind the pillar on the right :)
He’s mostly from this kit but his legs are from a similar kit and with the posing I had to fill them in with a lot of greenstuff. I also had to sculpt around the arms because the kit looked pretty rough.
That’s pretty neat. I like the looks of those soldiers.
Wait this is a real world diorama, as in it occupies physical space? I could have sworn this was digital, I guess some of the illusion is probably due to the lighting and blurring but still, this is super impressive! Gives me Counter-Strike vibes.
Yeah, here’s an album with work in progress and a few other angles.. Most of the picture is natural except up top near the barbed wire where I edited out the light box and added a digital blue gradient.
Wow, the shading work on those… Very cool stuff, thanks for sharing!
